I grew up in this place, left for college at 18, spent the next 25 years in a variety of small towns (Grantham, PA; Ashland, OH) and big cities (Philadelphia, New York, Cincinnati), met Matt while doing voluntary service in The Bronx, NY, went to seminary, had four children, and met all kinds of interesting people. Now, at 44, I’m back home. My parents share our property, living in a newly constructed home approximately 50 yards from my back door. I’m the theoretical farmer. I read the books and dream big dreams, which Matt then has to put into practice. I’m finally able to admit that I’m totally wired for domesticity: cooking, making bread, quilting, knitting, gardening. If it has to do with keeping a home, and doesn’t involve cleaning, I’m probably into it. My other consuming passion is the Church, with a helping of theology on the side.
Hey, good to see your words and chicken pictures. Haven’t looked at all the site but will. Ah, Jeanne, you have the chronologic age of 44 and the wisdom age of 90. Thank you so much.
