To whom do I speak
O what do I say
To speak when the soul is dry
is to cheat the listener of a word worthwhile
Oh the echo
Oh the rattle
Worthless words
Empty words
Impotent words
Oh for a word to change my heart
To witness of a living God
Of One who has my heart
Yield! Yield! Yield!
give it all to him
My mouth is tight
My mouth is closed
I grasp so strong
to the shallowness of my own.
Broken and wandering,
Weak and malnourished
Drink the living water
Eat the bread and sip the cup
Daily, it is enough.
It gives life,
Joyful life
Contented life
Ah words of life
Oh Word of life
Speak through me
Until then, I will pray.
Amen
Each day I arise
Resurrected from the deep
Daily the river washes over me
Worn a bit more
Smoothed and tumbled
Yet a calling to fulfill.
What was it that I had heard?
It seems to have past
Is there no more?
Or am I blind, deaf and dumb?!
O how I long to hear and speak
For we have forgotten
We need reminded
of how to follow and what to be
Come! Oh Come! Emanuel
One day I will not breath
But then I shall see clearly
